Citizen Moon-phase Triple Calendar Mens Watch – 6300-804791 – 1990s

This is a seriously underrated piece from Citizen, and one of the best examples of how well the brand has executed complex quartz watches.

At the heart of this watch is Citizen’s classic multi-calendar moon-phase layout, with day, date, month and moon-phase all neatly arranged across a beautifully textured silver dial. The radial finishing catches the light exceptionally well, giving the watch far more depth than you’d expect at first glance, while the applied indices and black handset keep everything legible despite the added complication.

The moon-phase display at 6 o’clock is the standout feature — a detail usually reserved for much higher-end mechanical pieces. It adds visual interest without tipping into novelty, which is exactly why these models have aged so well.

The stainless steel case has a solid, slightly chunky profile that feels very “Citizen” of the era, paired with the original bracelet which suits the watch perfectly and keeps the whole package period-correct. Inside is Citizen’s reliable quartz calendar movement, making this an extremely practical vintage watch despite the complication-heavy dial.

These Citizen moon-phase models remain one of the best value propositions in vintage Japanese watches: genuinely interesting, beautifully made, and still flying under the radar compared to equivalent Swiss pieces. Overall great condition, some minor marks on the crystal but overall great for its age.

A great option if you want something more involved than a standard dress watch, without sacrificing wearability or reliability.
