Seiko Chariot Automatic Hi-Beat - 1972 - Roman Numeral Dial - 2409-0020
This is a rare vintage Seiko Chariot, reference 2409-0020, from 1972, which combines the elegant Chariot design language with a high-beat automatic movement (with a seconds hand!). While many Chariots were manual wind, this model is powered by the Seiko 2409 automatic calibre, a 'hi-beat' movement operating at 28,800 bph for a very smooth seconds hand sweep. The watch features a stainless steel case, framing a superb silver linen-textured dial adorned with crisp black Roman numerals and slender hands. It also includes a practical Day-Date complication (with quickset for both).
The watch is presented in great overall vintage condition. The original crystal is in great shape with only some light, age-appropriate wear. The superb dial is in fantastic condition, remaining clean and highly legible. The stainless steel case is also in great condition, showing minimal wear and retaining its original brushed finish well. It has been fitted with a brand new, aftermarket stainless steel mesh bracelet with an adjustable clasp that complements the vintage style. The watch has been tested and is both fully functioning correctly and keeping accurate time within expected vintage tolerances.
A fantastic find for the vintage Seiko enthusiast, this Chariot offers the rare combination of a high-beat automatic movement in a slim, elegant dress watch case. With its timeless Roman numeral dial and great condition, it's a truly special piece.
